List of POPs

All chemical substances, which fall under the regulation of the Stockholm Convention, are listed in the its Annexes. The list comprises three Annexes:

Annex A (Elimination)

The production and the use of chemicals, listed in Annex A, shall be eliminated, unless a specific exemption is specified.

Annex B (Restriction)

The production and the use of chemicals listed in Annex B shall be restricted.

Annex C (Unintentional Production)

Measures shall be taken to reduce the total unintentional releases of the chemicals listed in Annex C.

 Unintentional production

 

Update of the POPs list in the Convention

The POPs list of the Convention is subject to updates. In addition to the above listed chemicals, in accordance with the Convention, the following four hazardous chemicals are suggested to be included in the list: decabromodiphenyl ether (commercial mixture, c-decaBDE); dicofol; short-chain chlorinated paraffins; pentadecafluorooctanoic acid, its salts and PFOA compounds.
